Joan Vendrell

Clinical Endocrinologist Expert

He is the clinical coordinator of the DIAMET research group. Head of Endocrinology at the Joan XXIII University Hospital and full professor at the Universitat Rovira i Virgili. He is author of more than 240 scientific articles, from which he has published 22 articles as a corresponding author in the last 5 years (5 of them directly related to succinate metabolism). He is co-inventor on seven patents, all related to Type 2 Diabetes and two of them directly related to succinate and has led 6 research projects (two international) and two innovation and technology transfer projects in the last 5 years. He belongs to two excellence networks as PI (CIBERDEM, Adipoplast) and he is a collaborator in 10 competitive grants. As a clinician, he hasled some clinical assays in the field of diabetes and actively participates in several medical societies such as the European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD) and the Spanish Endocrinology Society. Since 2019 he is also president of the Catalan Society of Diabetes (ACD).
