Maribel Berges

Chemical Engineer

Is a Chemical Engineer from the Institut Químic de Sarrià, a graduate in Organic Chemistry from the Ramon Llull University, and an MBA from IESE.
She has extensive experience in the sector, including a long experience at the Fundació Bosch i Gimpera, the Technology Transfer Office of the University of Barcelona, where she contributed to create and finance more than 40 projects of new technology-based companies. She is the author of a manual on "Valuation and licensing of patents for new pharmaceutical products".
In 2009 she founded SPHERIUM BIOMED together with other partners, where she was CFO and CBDO, in charge of licensing and investment negotiations in the company. Later she was CEO of Ability Pharmaceuticals, a start-up focused in the development of new oncologic drugs and currently she is founder and CEO of Affirma Biotech a company specialized in the discovery and development of new anti-infective drugs.
